Main historical
dates and royal dynasties
In the "Ruler"
column after the year 1056 are shown the
kings who had their royal residence on the
island of Leon. Only in the early years
(from 1 — 1500) and in the latest
history (after 7800) the King of the Sphere
had the whole of this world under his rule.
For the most part he was only a nominal
ruler. Often his only dominions were the
island of Leon and the continents of Feb
and Rodos, and there were extended periods
when even Feb was controlled by some duke
or other.

Initial settlement of
the Sphere, universal panic. |

Basil
(mayor of Sheepstone) |
The beginning of civilized
society, foundation of Sheepstone. Today
Sheepstone is the capital of Hyperion,
the largest continent, but it?s no longer
the largest city of the Sphere. The
name most probably is derived from the
words sheep and stone. |

|
First experimental use
of magic. Appear the very first, as
yet weak mages. |
| 15 |
|
Foundation of Bangville,
the second city to be built in this
world. It is still in existence. Bangville
is in the very center of Hyperion but
monster-infested forests around it make
trade and communication with this city
extremely uncertain. |
| 20 |
Basil
(the First King) |
A monarchy is decided
upon as the future form of government
for the Sphere. Mayor of Sheepstone
Basil is almost unanimously elected
as the Fist King. |
| 31 |
|
Foundation of Pitvale. |
| 47 |
|
A group of free builders
establishes a new sovereign city Nomrad.
However, without King Basil?s supports
the new city languishes until, in the
end, the Nomradians are obliged to accept
the supremacy of the Sheepstone mayor. |
| 172 |
|
Two magic schools are
formed: the Outgoing ones and the Remaining
ones. |
| 185 |

Foundation of Sanpool.
Today it?s the largest city on Hyperion. |
| 203 |
|
A rift develops between
the Outgoing and the Remaining mages. |
| 217 |
|
Foundation of Erentown. |
| 385 |
|
Foundation of Anhelm. |
| 402 |
|
Foundation of Torweal,
a mining town which still exists. The
name is probably derived from the words
tor (high rocky hill) and wealth. |
| 451 |
|
Foundation of Greenyard. |
| 510 |
|
Foundation of Umrad. |
| 662 |
|
Foundation of Nightveil. |
| 980 |
Valentine |
The throne is inherited
by Basil?s son Valentine. |
| 1005 |
|
First transformations,
first lycanthropes appear. |
| 1008 |
|
Amilus invents a small
magic pot. Before, the alchemists had
to use large ovens to work their magic. |
| 1014 |
|
Chaos, all over the Sphere
roam bands of monsters and lycanthropes.
Many of the cities, such as Bangville,
Erentown and Anhelm are destroyed to
their foundations, others are controlled
by monsters. |
| 1015 |
|
The first Council of
the Outgoing and the Remaining mages.
The Sphere is split into two parts ?
Hyperion and Helios. |
| 1025 |
Katon |
King Valentine is unseated,
a new continent - Rodos - is broken
off Helios. |
| 1026 |
|
Kingtown, a magnificent
city of Kings is built. |
| 1031 |
anarchy |
The first dragon on Rodos
is spotted. King Katon panics and orders
to break Rodos into two parts but due
to a mistake in calculations the break
goes exactly through the Kingtown and
King Katon and his alchemists die. |
| 1051 |
|
The first successes of
baron Leon in his war of liberation
against monsters. |
| 1056 |
Leon |
All the major cities
are again under human control, the second
(and the last) Council of Mages elects
Leon as the King of Sphere. |
| 1057 |
|
The island of Leon is
broken off Feb. Because of yet another
mistake in calculations a shock wave
hits the lowest of the continents so
that a large piece (Haron) is broken
off. |
| 1071 |
|
Rector Bertran and mage
Gvidion fight each other in a duel following
a heated theoretical dispute. Gvidion
nearly loses the fight but at the last
moment uses a short dagger and wins.
The defeated Bertran is obliged to comply
with the terms of the fight: mention
his opponent?s theory in all his subsequent
scientific papers. |
| 1072 |
|
Rector Bertran, the head
of the School of Alchemists and King
Leon?s chief alchemist, writes his famous
collection of scrolls describing everything
known to the science of alchemy at the
time, from its basic principles up to
its most advanced theories. Only a small
portion of these scrolls are still in
existence today and they are of enormous
scientific importance because alchemy
has been steadily declining since then. |

Leon the Second or King-the-Enlightener
becomes the King. A whole series of
scientific books and manuals were written
under his auspices including the well-known
Nilus Encyclopedia which not only contained
a wealth of knowledge about the world
of the Sphere, but also listed a number
of alchemical recipes. |
