One Game Multiple Characters
Many players will choose to create more than one character once they get really hooked to a particular game. Some do so in order to experience different classes, some do so in order to level up more quickly and some do so just for fun, particularly those veteran players. As for you, why do you choose to do so? |

For those players who play multiple characters, how will they decide to create the characters on a single account or on different accounts? It saves money if they're created on a single account and it's more convenient for them to share gold and items and switch between characters. While for the players who hope to level up his low level characters more quickly with the help of high level ones, one single account is obviously not enough.
Nowadays, with the development of computer hardware, more and more players become fond of multiboxing. Why it becomes so popular? Firstly, grouping is not always easy. What if we can form a group without involving other players? Multiboxing would be an ideal choice. Secondly, multiboxing will give more freedom to the player. He can even form 2 or more teams belonged to different factions all by himself so that he can earn more gold or honor. An interesting example is multiple characters' performance in WoW.
Every medal has its reverse. In order to enjoy the pleasure of multiboxing, you'll have to pay for it, like more time, more vigor, or more money. It's easy to make it if you just want to help your low level characters, but if you want to form a group in order to cheat gold and scores, usually your characters have to be at same or similar level, which requires great patience and I don't think every player can make it. In addition, multiboxing requires high on computer's specification and several computers have to work together.
While, on the other hand, not all mmos allow multiboxing for some game companies regard it as cheating, so the software is designed not to support multiboxing. Therefore some players will try their best to remove the limitations about multiboxing and this requires high knowledge and technology. For example, in the former version of SoF, to do multiboxing, you have to modify process name or game file name. The official will certainly update the version to remove these bugs. And naturally, players will try other means to achieve their goals. Then the official will update the version again....And some players even use virtual pc or develop tools by themselves in order to achieve multiboxing.

1. So, how many characters do you have in the game you're playing? Are they in the same account or different accounts?
2. Have you tried dual boxing or multi boxing? Do you agree with it? |

-- 1. In Shaiya, I have two different accounts since you have to either pick the light or dark side. I wanted to get a feel for both ends of the spectrum. Other than that, I stick with one account that has several characters on it, ranging from several different classes and levels.
-- 2. Have you tried dual boxing or multi boxing? Do you agree with it? I've never tried it. Although I am very computer-savvy, I don't have the time, nor the patience, to learn how to multibox. I don't consider it cheating, either, unless you are doing it solely for the purpose of cheating *lol* Sometimes a person wants to party/group with themselves, so I can see where multiboxing would come in handy.
-- 3 Why do you do multiboxing?
Not Applicable
-- 4. Why don't you do that?
As stated previously, I lack the time and patience. It's enough for me to play with one client, let alone even thinking about running two. If I didn't have a life outside of the computer, and a lot of spare time to devote entirely to gaming, then I would think about doing it. But alas, I have a fulltime job, a husband, and a 2 year old to chase after. |

Hmm, I got an idea from this topic.
Anyway, I have mostly only one character in games. That's usually because I get bored of games fast but sometimes I don't and then I sometimes make new characters. In Cabal I have 4 characters, all around the same level and on the same account. Now that I read this topic, I realized that I could use them to kill stronger monsters if they were on other accounts... Man, I'll start creating new characters on other accounts now on, I have 2 computers and I could probably handle 2 characters at the same time if the opponents isn't too strong just a little stronger than the ones I kill normally. Yeah, now I got an urge to make a new charater in Rohan, I won't be able to play Rohan on my laptop though so there's no point in making a new account.
I have never tried multiboxing. I once heard about it but I didn't see how it would do me any good. I'm not sure if I know what it is actually. I think I know at least, it's like playing with many character on the same computer or something, I don't see how it would work though, I can't remember too well what it was. But whatever it is, I don't mind if people use it.
I'll never use it if I have to pay. I've got other uses for money, gaming is just for fun. |
