Other Threats
Note: Raw information on this page come from: Fansite Mysterium Magnum.
If you have already read the entries about Secret Societies, then you will be familiar with the pivotal lecture given by professor Tornquist in September 2009 about factions. This was a treatise summarizing what is currently known about the shadowy factions seeking to control the secret world, and the bloody conflict going on between them.
There are other threats looming however, which influence this secret world, and they were alluded to briefly at the end of the lecture.
A New Opponent
One such element was referred to as A New Opponent.

Almost nothing is known about this 'New Opponent'. During his opening for this segment of the lecture, professor Tornquist informs us that "there are other guys, there are other factions, there are other organizations", so we might assume that this logo represents another faction beyond the three secret societies we have uncovered so far. This interpretation is not concrete however, as he then goes on to refer to them as "elements" and "things that people find out about as they explore".
The symbol itself consists of two parts. The main square image, which is sometimes referred to as a knot. And if you look closely to the right you will see a smaller character which has been described as the kanji symbol for snake.
That they are an 'opponent', suggests an antagonist. Given the context in which it was presented, many feel that this refers to the three secret societies, and after years of conflict amongst one another they now face a common threat from a new organization. Again, this is speculation with no concrete basis. And I will of course update this article as more definitive information is uncovered.
An Old Enemy
The second one was referred to as An Old Enemy.

Little is known about this 'Old Enemy', except for the logo that represents them which you can see to the right. So the phrase 'An Old Enemy' could instead refer to events currently occurring in the secret world (see below for more).
Most sources I have come across that refer to 'An Old Enemy', reference the video linked above, where the design of the logo is plain for us to see. It appears to be of an ancient ship with the image of a lion or bear depicted on the sail. However I have uncovered another sighting from the same day, that references a different logo. They take the position that 'An Old Enemy' is a faction (although later it is stated that this is not confirmed), and explain that the symbol for this faction is "a heraldic shield with a lion's head in profile and a sword behind it".
However no image has surfaced to verify this second logo for 'An Old Enemy'. It may well be misinformation intended to mislead. For now I consider it a curiosity rather than definitive knowledge on the matter.
What follows now is purely my speculation. To divine more about the meaning of this phrase and logo, I have poured over the countless records held here within the Mysterium Magnum, to see if any links could be made to this new information.
The only reference to an old enemy that I found, comes in the form of legends told by Tyler Freeborn on his blog Monsters of Maine. There he describes "a great enemy serving the dark spirit of the mountains", and refers to it as "something ancient and vast and evil that sleeps in these mountains".
Could 'An Old Enemy' refer to this ancient evil, buried deep within the Blue Ridge Mountains of Solomon Island? Has it been disturbed and is rising again? Certainly we know that there have been increased sightings of Guardians of the Mountains in the area. These creatures are understood to also stir when the evil in the mountain does.
The logo itself suggests a seafaring faction. There has been strong speculation amongst the investigative community that this represents the rising of Atlantis. Pursuing my theory above however, we see that the histories of Solomon Island refer to another seafaring people, Norsemen, who visited the area around 900-1000AD. This was also the last time this ancient evil stirred.
Wabanki lore holds that these Norsemen fought alongside them during the Darkness War, helping to drive the evil back into hiding. Perhaps this old enemy has returned, and we will see (or need to seek) the return of the Norsemen to aid in the battle once more.
Of course, there is still much unknown about the secret world in which these factions operate. So the procedural speculation approach I have taken may be a foolish pursuit, as there is such little data to work from. Make of it what you will. I will of course be updating this article as more definative information is uncovered.
The Rising Tide of Change
The third one was referred to as The Rising Tide of Change.

Precious little is known about 'The Rising Tide of Change'.

This symbol has not only been seen in the aforementioned video, but has also been spotted adorning one of the characters suspected to currently reside in Kingsmouth. See the second image above, where the symbol appears formed as a belt buckle.
Although we have two matching sources that verify the existence and form of this symbol, I have uncovered another sighting from the same day that references a different logo. They take the position that 'The Rising Tide of Change' is a faction (although later it is stated that this is not confirmed), and explain that the symbol for this faction is "a banner with a rising sun". The term 'banner' suggests a different shape than the arch we see in images to the right. However it could simply be a matter of terminology, where banner is used in place of symbol or logo.
What follows next is purely my own speculation. To divine more about the meaning of this phrase and logo, I have poured over the countless records held here within the Mysterium Magnum, to see if any links could be made to this new information.
We know from the lecture that these three new mysterious factions or elements have been encountered early on by investigators and soldiers as they explore the secret world. We have also heard that Kingsmouth is one of the first assignments for new recruits to the societies, due to the events unfolding there.
Several other groups, aside from the three main secret societies, have been identified as having recently moved into the area of Solomon Island. This includes "a seemingly innocuous group of hippies, some guys in black vans, and even the US military". Could the owner of the belt buckle be one of the aforementioned hippies? If you click the image of the belt buckle to the right you will see a full image of the person and can draw your own conclusion.
We also have multiple references to rising waters (although not specifically tides) originating from Kingsmouth via thedarkplaces tweets: "They will all drown. They will all come back. The endless night is near". Could this be the rising tide that is referred to?
Perhaps this group of hippies are seeking to bring about a cleansing change and new dawn to the world, by awakening an ancient entity that slumbers beneath Solomon Island? It is wild speculation for sure! And not a theory that can be proved by any information currently at hand. I will however continue to update this article as more information comes to light, and correct any false assumptions I have made.
