According to legend, when the ravens depart the Tower of London, it will crumble to rubble and disaster will befall England. As man became more dependent on science, believing only in what he could define or create, ancient knowledge and rituals were lost to the antiquity of time. Prophecies that had stood as warning for untold generations were seen as archaic folly or ignorant superstition; so when the harbingers of evil began to manifest, few saw and fewer believed.

Factions / Classes

The heroes of Hellgate: London are divided into three distinct groups, or factions. These factions represent different ideals, philosophies, training and combat techniques. Each faction has distinct classes that further distinguish their members. The faction and class that you choose for your character are key defining factors in your overall game play experience.

THE TEMPLAR

The Order of divine warriors and righteous swordsmen is, by and large, composed of noble men and women who wish only to preserve humanity and smite the Great Dark that has fallen upon our world. After the Earth had been all but destroyed at the tooth and claw of the Demons, the Templar deemed
themselves the necessary leadership caste of London's remnant force, serving as the frontline in this righteous battle.

Guardian

Guardians are not shy. These defense-oriented warriors thrive on drawing groups of Demons close where they can punish them en masse.

Their skills are commonly more potent when surrounded by the enemy. In many cases immobility only increases their effectiveness.

Plays best with others by running directly into the fray, and taunting enemies to draw them near before hunkering down to deal damage.

Blademaster

  • An aggressive, high-damage melee combatant that rushes up to the enemy and initiates contact.
  • Blademasters come into their own when wielding dual weapons and are at their best when inflicting pain with sharp objects.
  • Plays best with others by causing havoc along the edges of the battlefront, thus allowing ranged classes to deal damage from afar and in relative safety.

THE CABALISTS

Cabalists are seekers of knowledge who desire to control the fate of mankind by studying The Great Dark and using that power to wrest the Earth from the jaws of Demonkind. To the uninitiated this philosophy seems to border on madness, but the Cabal is too great an asset to dismiss. One highly trained Cabalist can equal an army, if properly equipped and strategically deployed.

Summoner

  • Never one to travel without an entourage, the Summoner has mastered the art of creating or controlling elementals and Demons. Their minions can be unleashed to distract and destroy the enemy with great effect.
  • Summoners also focus on regenerative skills that allow them to spread the wealth of life to their dark minions and human allies alike.
  • Plays best with others when allowed to sit back and summon the right minions for the situation before blasting away from mid-range with a handful of spells and a variety of magically enhanced weapons.

Evoker

  • Evokers manipulate storms of supernatural fury by channeling arcane and elemental power into damage-amplifying Focus items. Their spells are mainly oriented towards pure offense, plain and simple.
  • Unique Focus items allow Evokers to increase and enhance the effects of their spells. Their potential is only limited by how much of the dark powers can be channeled through these devices.
  • Plays best with others by staying back and quickly alternating between spell types and Focus items to effectively stun, ignite, poison, shock, and phase enemies.


THE HUNTERS

Hardened well before the Demons came, Hunters are highly trained ex-military operatives that have been through almost every war-like scenario imaginable. Cold and calculating in the field, they utilize hyper-advanced technology that makes them especially effective from long ranges. Hunters never surrender ¨C they just survive.

Marksman

  • These long-range specialists are highly adaptable, ensuring they have the right weapon to inflict the maximum damage possible in every situation.
  • Marksmen get boosts when scoring critical damage hits. These benefits include various self-enhancements, homing bullets, and even reflecting shots.
  • Plays best with others by staying well back behind the first and second lines of offense, picking off unsuspecting enemies with deadly ease and accuracy.

Engineer

  • Technologically savvy and versatile, Engineers apply their knowledge of the latest theoretical science to build automated Bots and Drones.
  • The Engineer can improve his inventions with skills and additional equipment as time goes on, including weapon and armor retrofits.
  • Plays best with others by unleashing a tactical grouping of Bots and a highly upgraded Drone while offering support with small-arms fire.
