The World of Earth Eternal

Earth Eternal's world is the real world...sort of. At release, the game will consist of Europe and possibly a bit of North Africa and the Middle-East. Some places, landmarks, and geographical features will be in Earth Eternal, such as the Eiffel tower, the city of Athens, and the Rock of Gibraltar. That's about where the similarity to the real world ends, though.

For example, Bremen is a city of Felines (cat-people) that was formed after the Anubians (Egyptian Empire) kidnapped a village of Felines in Turkey to further the Pharoah's plans. The Egyptian Goddess of Cats - Bast - is now the patron Goddess of Bremen.

The Eiffel tower exists, but has been reclaimed by the Great Forest and is now an ivy and vine-covered relic used as a meeting place for Treekin and the Beasts of the forests. The Rock of Gibraltar serves as the base for the Anubian invasion of Europe via Spain.

Some of the major civilizations in Earth Eternal

If we restrict ourselves mainly to Europe and some immediately surrounding areas there are:

The Anubian Empire: Ruled by Anubis and Pharoah Khafre, the Anubian Empire seeks domination of Europe, Africa, and eventually the world. 172 years ago, Anubis summoned the ancient God-killing Sphinxes and set them loose on the Egyptian Gods that had not already fled. The Sphinxes continued onto Mt. Olympus, slaying all of the Greek Gods but Ares, Athena, and Artemis, and then onto Asgard to slay most of the Norse Gods. Pharoah Khafre then attacked Europe via Turkey, but were eventually repulsed. Now, the Anubians are attempting a repeated invasion of Europe, via Spain.

Athens: The great city of Athens is one of the shining lights of Beast-dom.

Bremen: A city of Felines in north-central Europe founded by refugees from the First Anubian War.

The Blood Kingdom: Stretching the length of the Carpathian mountains, the Blood Kingdom is the seat of Vampire power on Earth. With the seven Blood Keeps unified, the world faces the first Vampire Palatine since the Age of Legend in Lord Drakul, of the Koltai Brood.

Cazador: A newly-formed city of Taurians and Atavians in southern Spain organized to resist the Anubians.

The Dominion of the Claw: A nation of feral Wolf and Bear Beasts that stretches from what we call St. Petersburg to the Black Sea. The history of the Dominion (or DotC as they are often abbreviated) begins at the end of the Age of Legend.

After the Breaking of the Covenant and Man's fall from Beasthood, Man began to grow numerous and the seeds of power began to appear in their budding civilization. In order to counter this threat, the Vampires created the Ferals - corrupted bear, wolf, and rat Beasts - to hunt and control the population of Man, that they might remain prey for the Vampires rather than turn into the predators. For thousands of years during Man's dawn, Vampires and Ferals waged a campaign of dark terror on Man, and legend has it that Man never entirely lost his fear of these early threats to his racial existence, even as he became so powerful as to force all other races into hiding.

At some point, perhaps ten thousand years after their creation, the Ferals had grown both numerous and tired of their blood-drinking masters, and rebelled, beginning a war with the Vampires that would be fought in the shadows of Man's growing dominance on and off for over two thousand years. The Shadow War ends after the bear and wolf Ferals form the Dominion of the Claw and, thus organized, prove a foil for the Vampires, who are eventually forced to accept that the extermination of the ungrateful Ferals would have to wait for another night.

The rat Ferals did not join the Dominion of the Claw, for even among the Ferals, they were considered base creatures. The story of these Ferals, who grew to be called the Gloom Witches, has not yet been revealed.

The Gloom Witches: A race of Witches with a one-time homeland in what we call the Balkans, their homeland was wiped out in retaliation for a betrayal during the First Anubian War during which the Gloom Witches struck a secret deal with the Anubians and attacked the forces trying to repel the Anubians from behind.

Hell: Just what it sounds like. Not a pleasant place. Hell is ruled by Dagon, King of Hell, who is powerful enough to give some Lesser Gods a run for their money.

The Krostakin: Rarely seen by Beasts, these creatures dwell in the UnderRealm, far below the surface of the Earth. They are utterly hostile to those who walk in the sun.

Midgaard: The Ursines (bear-people) of Midgaard live in what you would call southern Sweden and Norway. They are implacable foes of the Dvergar of Nidavellir, and are championed by Thor, God of Thunder.

Nidavellir: A realm of snow and ice in the far north of Norway, Sweden, and Finland, inhabited by the evil Dvergar, ancient enemies of the Ursines of Midgaard. They have long been tools of Loki.

The People of the Skull: Little is known about the People of the Skull or their society, except that they live hard lives in the Ural mountains and brook no intruders.

The Ranger Kingdoms: Five closely allied kingdoms, dominated by the Foxicus race of Beasts, in what is now Finland and northwest Russia.

The Rotted: At the beginning of the Age of Beasts, after the fall of Man, a sorcerer kidnapped the still-drowsy Treekin and experimented upon them. The results are known as the Rotted. They primarily dwell in what is now Poland.

The Shroomies: The Shroomies are a mysterious, wandering people who claim to be looking for something. They're rumored to be the oldest beings on Earth, but it's difficult to get much out of all but a couple individuals. The Black Shroomies are Shroomies whose hearts turned black during the Age of Man when they were forced to hide to avoid being wiped out by Man.

Taurania: The Taurians, Beasts that look like minotaurs, have long resided in their ancestral homeland in what are called the Taurus mountains in Turkey in the real world. They are a proud people who have suffered repeated invasions over the millenia.

The Treekin: Wise, ancient beings. Walking trees.

The Undead: The are a loose hierarchy ruled ultimately by the Metalich and his Archlich lieutenants. They dominate a good portion of the UnderRealm, and are known to seek dominion over all life.

The Warpigs: Pig-like Beasts who are tolerated, but not very well liked by their fellow Beasts. Most of them are mercenaries-for-hire.

The Warren: An underground city of burrowing Beasts that serves as the homebase of the Redeemers, a cross-cultural para-military organized dedicated to fighting the threat that Lord Drakul poses.

Are there any human beings in Earth Eternal?

Nope.In Earth Eternal, there have been three Ages that history knows anything about. The Age of Legend, the Age of Man, and the current age: The Age of Beasts. Not much is known about Man's extinction, but the general belief is that Man almost entirely wiped himself out in a great war, and then the remaining population slowly dwindled. The last human being was seen about 4000 years ago.

What level of technology exists in Earth Eternal?

About what you'd expect from a typical high-fantasy world. There are no guns, no steam engines, and so on. It's believed that mankind possessed truly wonderous technology, but his knowledge has been lost. Of course, it's possible that the occasional rare artifact from the Age of Man might be uncovered someday in Earth Eternal, but that would be a rare day indeed.
