The beginning…
At the end of 19th century
at a Chinese antique store in ChinaTown,
San Francisco, a boy was playing an old
casket named ‘Karma’ and as
he opened the door to the ancient Chinese
style house inside the box, he falls into
‘Karma’. As he wakes up, he
finds himself in a Chinese house inside
the box and he opens the door to the outside
to find out that the ancient Chinese continent
is in front of his eyes.
Before the history of
China even began, there were enormous forces
that conquered the entire continent, called
Lawful, Chaotic, and Evil Faction by people.
Nobody knows how it started,
but they were fighting each other until
only one group remained, and this war is
the ‘Thousand Year War of the Continent’.
Nobody could predict for sure who would
become the last standing group.
However, a small
incident happens at the Five Mountain Range
located on the edge of Middle Earth that
puts the end to this war. Lawful Faction,
once with powerful influence over the whole
continent, starts to crumble under the effect
of Chaotic Faction’s occult artifact,
named ‘The Ark of Heaven’, and
Chaotic Faction who secretly applauded the
befall of Jung Faction grabs hands with
Lawful Faction, as they find themselves
in uncertain position with their weapons
lowered once pointed at the other.
The overlords of Lawful
and Chaotic Faction immediately deploys
carefully selected 8 promising next-generation
martial artists in order to seal the ‘the
Ark of Heaven’ at the Sun Temple which
is one of 4 primary bases of Evil Faction.
There was a Follower of
Tao who was leading this party of 8 to the
Five Mountain Range, who was known as Tutor
of Five Elements. As they were in the process
of sealing after getting rid of the combat
masters of Evil Faction who were protecting
the ‘The Ark of Heaven’ at the
Sun Temple, they get themselves drawn inside
of the “The Ark of Heaven” instead.
And inside of Karma, he finds out the astonishing
fact that Bak Rang, a central figure in
Evil Faction who controlled the “The
Ark of Heaven” in the background discovered
the existence of 108 mystical artifacts,
or Karmas that ruled the Continent. In other
words, a single person who possesses all
the 108 Karmas can rule or destroy the Continent
single-handedly.
About Karma
Karma is the one and whole
In the world of ‘d.o’,
Karma holds a very important meaning. The
gaming world created by ‘d.o’
has the age of the Continent before the
history of China began as its background.
The feud to rule the Continent
among different forces contained in itself
the existence of the absolute power that
can guarantee the domination of the continents,
and this power is ‘Karma’.
Karma is divided into
108 pieces and scattered over the continent,
the continent and they took the shapes various
objects such as that of an animal, a weapon,
casket, or a common object. When all the
pieces are collected to form a single being,
Karma shows its enormous power. Even though
each one of these pieces are called Karma,
the union of all the 108 pieces are also
called Karma as well.
Of these 108 Karmas, there
is a single Karma that has the power to
call all the other 107 pieces to integrate
them into the absolute power, which is called
‘d.o’. In other words, ‘d.o’
is one of the 108 Karma pieces and the Karma
of all Karmas, and also the title of the
game.
As 108 Karmas were scattered
all around the Continent, the age of the
Continent has fallen and the history of
China has begun.
As time goes by, Karma
spreads out of China to all corners of the
globe, and one of them shows itself in the
19th century San Francisco.
The Karma that appeared
in San Francisco took the shape of casket,
and as the boy who touched it gets absorbed
the age of the Continent reappears through
‘d.o’.
Spectacular game composed

The Karmas create d.o’s
unique worldview composed of the oriental
background suited to the main theme of ‘martial
arts’, and adventures/mysterious experiences
heroes or heroines go through to become
the leader of the world.
The Karma is another unique
world in d.o, making users feel that there
is another game within the main d.o game.
The Karma is extended
through upgrade, a key factor enabling users
to undergo new experiences and fun.
The Meaning of Karma
The people who were assimilated
into Karma don’t look any different
from the ordinary people, except one characteristic.
They are all descendants of the Continent
who cannot forget the memories of the age
they once existed and instead holds them
in a corner of their spirits.
This is the agony the
descendants of the Continent holds to them,
and as the agony remains strongly, the descendants
of the Continent goes on living with the
Karma of having to go back to the Continent.
The agony imprints the
traces of the Continent on the spirit and
those spirits with these traces are recognized
by Karma who absorbs these descendants of
the Continent into their world.
You now enter Karma to
walk the path of risk-taker to break out
of the Karma of the Continent or go back
to the person you once were in the ancient
world of the Continent to become one of
the overlords of Lawful, Chaotic, Evil Faction,
or even the master of the Continent.
Karma is one and the whole. Because ‘d.o’
is one of the Karma, 108 Karmas holds a
single united view of the world.
As explained above, Karma
is the destiny of the spirits who has the
Karma of the agony the people of the Continent
exhibit, and Karma that players meet inside
the game takes a more concrete form.
In the ordinary online games, the game is
composed of many different maps, and the
game is played with 1 week at the least
and even some months on a single map. However
in ‘d.o’, the gaming world unfolds
in units Karma rather than a map. In a single
map, there can be one or more Karmas and
as the user moves around the map, the player
experiences a new area that gives wholly
different expression than the one he just
passed by. In other words, the concept of
Karma holds a broader meaning than the maps
in the conventional online games in which
a map is just a simple landscape whereas
Karma is a world with its own new order.
Karma is the gaming world
that depicts the depth of oriental chivalry
world, possible only by ‘d.o’
cannot be expressed in just one view, in
that there are Karma where there are two
moons in the sky, Karma where only the night
exists year-long filled with monsters, Karma
whose only entry point is through
