One of the most popular first-person shooters (FPS) for virtual reality (VR) headsets is zombie slayer Arizona Sunshine from Vertigo Games and Jaywalkers Interactive. Today, the developers have announced that work has begun on a new version of Arizona Sunshine, specifically for location-based VR centres.

As it’s CES 2018 this week, in conjunction with HTC Vive the new location-based version will be playable on the headset manufacturers stand. This will allow up to four players to immerse themselves in the Arizona Sunshine universe, battling hordes zombies together.

Location-based VR is seen as one of the best ways of getting the technology into the hands of the public without a big upfront cost. Theme parks have been experimenting with mobile VR on their rides, while companies like The VOID are taking it to the next level with hyper-reality experiences like Ghostbusters: Dimension and Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire. Neither Vertigo Games or HTC Vive have revealed when this new version of Arizona Sunshine will be rolled out to VR centres, or which locations these might be in.

If you’ve not yet played Arizona Sunshine the title supports Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and PlayStation VR, offering both a single-player campaign and multiplayer modes. The most recent update saw two-handed guns being added to the roster, adding a greater range of firepower to proceedings.
