If you're soccer fan, you may get interested in the new game -
GONG! (Goal or No Goal!)
which is now under the period of Closed Beta. GONG!
(Goal or No Goal!) is an immensely popular casual game in China. Soon, gamers
from the Philippines, Singapore, and Malaysia can play this virtual soccer game
for free. With its commercial launch for the SEA region slated for the first
half of 2008, GONG kicks-off DME's plan to release several new exciting titles
for this year.
GONG is unique in the market of MMO games for its ease of
play, cute visuals, quick pace, and its interesting, quirky game play. It is
relaxingly casual, but intensely competitive, and it is a social game that
allows for a wide array of avatar personalization.
It is a 3 versus 3
backyard soccer game with a bit of twist. Players can customize their characters
and use some interesting super powers while trying to win matches. There are
some pretty nice community features that we hope to announce soon.
1. You can play this game with one hand. The default
controls use the mouse. Left-click to move to the spot where your cursor is, or
you can hold it down to have your character follow the cursor. Right-click to
pass the ball to a teammate, or hold it down and release to shoot.
2.
Collect stars to buy items. At the start of each game, you get 200 empty star
boxes to store star shards in. You can earn star points by playing matches or
buying them with real-world moolah.
3. Finish quests for more
experience. While the fact sheet we got didn't tell us what kind of quests
you'll be doing, there will be some sort of solo Quest Mode available in GONG!.
(Maybe it's a fancy term for Challenge Mode?) The first quest is free, but
you'll need star points to access the higher-level quests.
4. There are
special game modes for extra fun. The standard Co-Op Mode features 2-on-2
matches where you and an opponent can go head-to-head or team up to take down
the computer. There are a couple of other game modes for you to try as well.
Item Mode features tons of power-ups (the spectators will even throw you a
couple from the stands). For the hardcore players, Extreme Mode will have
absolutely no items, while newbies might want to try out Friendly Mode, a
practice arena where the results won't go into your career record.
