Today, South Korean game developer and publisher Nexon launched closed beta for its latest MMORPG title SP1 in South Korea. It is planned that the closed beta will run for three days, from March 21st to March 23rd Seoul Time. The servers will be open from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Seoul Time. All the players who have applied for an account on the official site will be allowed to participate in the test.

Following that, Nexon will conduct a pre-open beta for SP1 on March 27th and officially launch open beta on March 31st.

SP1 is an MMORPG based on contemporary themes. It features horror movie scenario and content. In SP1, players will take on the role as a detective or journalist. Through investigating murders, players will come to know that aliens really exist and more surprisingly they discover that they actually are aliens. And in order to survive and save the race, they will rise to fight against their foes.

Horror Movie Atmosphere

Storyline quests are an important part of SP1. Through doing quests and adventuring, players will gradually come to suspect the world and set out to find the answer. Specifically, they will gradually discover a big conspiracy after experiencing strange things which seem to have nothing to do with each other. Isn't it just like a horror movie?

Unique Telephone Booth System

In SP1, players not only can receive quests through talking to NPC, just like in other MMORPGs, but also they can call the NPC or a mysterious number to receive a quest.

The telephone booth system is consisted of Messenger, Unknown Number and Bell. Messenger will allow the player to receive a quest from the NPC through calling the NPC's phone number, which might not be mysterious to the player. But Unknown Number and Bell will definitely give players a mysterious feel. During the process of doing quests, players will see a slip of paper on which there is a phone number. If you dial this number, a mysterious person to you and give you a quest to do. And d occasionally, when you pass by a telephone booth, the phone will ring. If you answer the phone, a mysterious person will talk to you. He/she might be your friend or your foe. Who is the mysterious person? Play the game and you'll find the answer.

Intense Dungeons

The players will have a chance to experience intense dungeons in SP1. Different team will have a different dungeon. SP1's dungeons are somewhat similar to the instances in World of Warcraft where players have to form a party to fight high end monsters. But the dungeons in SP1 will feature special effects which are only available in movies, which will definitely make players thrilled.

It carries some risk to develop and publish a new-genre of game. Compared to other MMORPGs, SP1 is sure a challenge to both the developer and publisher. Will SP1 become a big success or a total failure? Let's just wait and see.
