Short Introduction

The nickname "Rakkasan" is Japanese meaning "falling down umbrella", as the Japanese had no formal word for parachute. It was given to the 187th Airborne Regimental combat Team during its tour in occupied Japan following World War II. The Rakkasan`s fought in the south pacific during WWII and are the only unit in the United States Army to have served in every major conflict since then. Their regimental motto is " Ne Desit Virtus " ("Let Valor Not Fail").
