Comparison: I¡®ve played a lot of MMORPG¡®s in my time, and I would have to say that Rubies Of Eventide is by far the best one out there. The game is free and basically is run by a college student who pays for it off donations from the players. You can not compare the community in this game to any other RPG out there, every single person in Rubies Of Eventide is nice, caring, and supporting.. Even to the noobs. The moderating system is fantastic, all the GM¡®s are nice and understanding, also very helpful to the community.
Graphics (8) The graphics one this game are not bad. They really aren¡®t up to date, considering the game is run off an old game engine called Jupiter. I don¡®t think Jupiter is all that stable. The textures in this game are very good. There are very many mods people have made in the Rubies Of Eventide forums that make the textures even better, including armor mods, cape mods, monster mods, face mods, grass mods, etc. And if you don¡®t like those mods you can always make your own with the right tool. Sound (7.5) I give the sound a 7.5 because I deeply hate the game music with a passion. It just annoys the crap out of me. So I just mute the volume and turn on my music. But the sounds for the effects are very good, such as the magic spell effect sounds and the monster sounds. But if you know how to you can edit the in game songs to what you like to listen to.
Gameplay (9.5) The gameplay in this game is very great. The only thing¡®s I dislike about it is the fighting system and the exp cap system. Basically when you go into battle it¡®s not free run around the monster and hit it a few times. Once you get into battle your moves are kind of turned based, say you press forward, your character will move forward and pause for a few moments and then move again if you tell it to. You also have a Prep and Recovery time in order to fight. The cap system is kind of different. For example your in a battle with a monster that will give a maximum of 15,000 exp un capped, and you have a party of 10 (max) if each character isn¡®t within 5 levels range you will get less exp.
Community (10) The community in this game is FANTASTIC every single person is as nice as can be. They help you out if you ask them to even if it is out of their way they will find a way to do it. I do not think there is one rude person in that game, that I have seen anyway. There is a channel that noobies or anyone who comes across something they don¡¯t know called the Help channel, all you have to do is type /h and your message. You will get answers about 98% of the time. It depends on who is on at that time. Overall the community is great, best I have ever seen.
Value (9.5) The value of this game is so good. You can¡®t leave the game for very long without coming back again and again. There is always something for you to do, build a new character to test out what it can do and the flaws of it. I really do not think there is any down fall besides the Developer team is very small and it takes along time for updates to get done.
Unique features: Some unique features to this game would be the character creation selection. There are over 125 classes to choose from and 6 different races including the Elf, Gnome, Orc, Ogre, Leshy and Human. There is always something new to try so you¡®ll never get bored!
Personal Rating: The overall rating I would give for this game would be a 10. It is a very fun game which I can not leave for longer then a month. It does get old after about one year playing but I guarantee you it will keep bridging you back for more even after you say you¡®ve quit. It¡®s just an all out grat game. I say if you love a good RPG Rubies Of Eventide is where you should go!
