Comparison: A lot of people play Americas Army (AA) which is the first actual game that comes to mind when you first visit the homepage. But after logging into the system seeing the various servers and actual game play next comes to mind is Gunz the Duel... Yes I know what you are thinking Gunz has much more to it that just running around shooting people on separate teams. Yes this is very true, but the basic concept is there, or is it. Yes this is contradictory of what one would think, similarities to AA is the fact your on a team, the difference is you don¡®t have to qualify to use a specific type of character. If you want to be a medic, you can be granted you have to wait till the other team viciously attacks you and you happen to get the short end of the stick. You can select sniper and find a good view but yet keeping yourself hidden, that has been a task I myself only accomplished once in the game. There are various other positions to choose and something that AA doesn¡®t have...other weapons that you can try out... I say try out because you may only use the weapon for a maximum of 30 days.. and it cost ya Dinar (there money) you gain exp so yes you do level...but be prepared for a major grind. But killing your best friend in a close combat or battle group map will slowly tear away at the gap. The other advantage and comparison in the team play as with AA you fight for a team and battle against the other team until all are dead. The difference in War Rock is this... you can re-spawn in certain battles, primarily a capture the flag type system still regardless if you have or are hesitant in testing out this game I would like to suggest you try it out at least once.
First impression: Yes I was sceptical at first, yet at the time of creating the account and downloading the client I was bored of MMORPG¡®s I play a lot and have played a lot and will continue to play numerous amounts of MMO¡®s until they shut down my Internet or the government decides to make us all suffer the lag from dial-up. This game had a lot to change in me, I tried AA i was not very good at it, I tried Gunz The Duel but eventually lost my account, why still haven¡®t gotten an answer. Yes back to what I was on about in my first impression of this game, War Rock had to change my way of thinking, I was tired of sticking to one character and leveling that up until i was blood shot eyed, and ticked off cause my next available weapon that can only be dropped wasn¡®t dropping...and everyone but I had this weapon, or armour. But I put away myself doubts about this MMOFPS and played it... I was stunningly surprised, not only do I enjoy the game but I have gotten my friends and family to play this game as well.
Graphics: (9) For a free to play game it has great graphics, and the frame rate is up to par, I have experienced lag but that has more to do with my ancient video card than with the game itself.
Sound: (9.5) Hook up that 5.1 surround sound and you will be taking cover as you look around for that mysterious bullet that gazed by your head...or heard gaze by your head.
Gameplay: (9.5) I enjoy the game and still play from time to time when I get a free chance to log on, it is really re playable and when I get that itchy trigger finger cause I was cut off by some old lady who can¡®t see over the steering wheel I turn to my trusted companion War Rock. The game play is mouse key-board controlled, yet it¡®s not to hard to get use to w to move forward and shift to roll.
Community: (9) The community of player on War Rock are very friendly, even if you raid there spawn and 1 out of 10 call you a hacker it is still a good people who play the game.
Value: (8.5) The game is very unique and doesn¡®t follow the original path of most FPS, bringing in various maps, battle fields and weaponry. This game is very re-playable and I still play it.
Unique features: (9.5) The unique feature of this game is the purchasing/ trial of new weapons, drivable vehicles (including: motorcycles, tanks, helicopters, airplanes, hummers, troop trucks, anti aircraft vehicles). Weather your playing bomb your opponents base, capture the flags, or all out Battle Group you must try this game if you enjoy or ever wanted to try out a FPS
Overall rating: 9.5 Why not a 10 you ask, being that I am mostly a RPG player, it doesn¡®t suit me very well but I enjoy the game why? Because I can actually shoot people and get away with it. I am not the best player on the game by far, my nephew once got 78 kills in one game to my small 35 (personal record yet to be broken). We were playing the same game yet on opposite teams, yes it was a slaughter. The game duration lasted for 300 points...yikes I hope I wasn¡®t the cause of most the lost points on my team. I have gotten better and soon will try to break my personal best record on War Rock... So if you ever see the HiddenOne rolling up on ya beware I might just shoot ya...or hide and head shoot you with my SSG.
