Far away at the end of the horizon lies ?Terra Incognita¡°, the undiscovered land. In Bounty Bay Online every player has the chance to make discoveries that will make him rich and famous.
Our new online roleplaying game plays during the early modern times from the 15th to 16th century, a time known for it¡äs vast technological and scientific progress following the ¡°dark¡± Middle Ages. It¡äs the time of enlightenment and our players can take part in these interesting times.
Bounty Bay Online features more than 1500 so called ¡°Discoveries¡±, ranging from small plants and animals to monumental buildings like the Egyptian pyramids, the strait of Gibraltar or the Great Chinese Wall and more than 60 ports in all parts of the known world at that time.
Athens: Athens is your start into the great adventure. The Greek port is starting and training area at the same time. From here you can start in the outback where you can fight fierce creatures or can set sail in your own ship for the first time.
Hamburg: The German Hanseatic city is an important center of commerce and invites the guest to stay with it¡äs homelike alleys and atmospheric houses.
Alexandria: Egypts ancient metropolis is the most important city in Northern Africa. In it¡äs vast outback you can find lots of adventures and discoveries ¨C like the monumental pyramids of Giza.
Cape Town: If you sail all the way south to the Cape of Good Hope you¡äll eventually reach Cape Town ¨C in the 15th century not the metropolis of today, but a small native village next to Table Mountain.
America: Following explorers like Christopher Columbus the American continent will be discovered at the end of the 15th and during the 16th century, beginning with the east coast.
Shanghai: The Chinese port is one of the Asian metropolis in Bounty Bay Online ¨C from there the Great Wall of China is only a short trip away.
Lisbon: Portugal is one of the most influential nations of the 16th century and because of that also in Bounty Bay Online. Lisbon is the capital and one of the largest ports and an important center of commerce and because of that regularly besieged by enemy nations.
London: Visiting the King and Queen ¨C London has not only lots of interesting and famous buildings, like for example St. Pauls Cathedral, but is an important port and center of commerce as well.

The New World!
In the middle of the 14th century the Ottoman Empire is blocking all trading overland between Europe and Asia with high taxes and ambushes on trade caravans. When trading with exotic plants, silk and spices has all but completely stopped, the idea to find a western seaway between Europe and Asia is born.
03. August 1492:
Under the command of Christopher Columbus the Santa Maria sets sail from the port of Palos de la Frontera together with two other ships.
September 14th 1492:
Columbus crosses the equator for the first time.
October 12th 1492:
The fleet reaches San Salvador close to the American coast.
May 11th 1502:
Columbus starts another voyage to find the western passage to India.
August 14th 1502:
With his flagship Capitana Christopher Columbus reaches the bay of Honduras. At the same time the first European sets foot on the American continent!
The New World was finally discovered and Christopher Columbus name was forever storied in history.
Vasco da Gama
1469-1524
The sea route to India!
At the end of the 14th century all known sea and land routes are more dangerous than ever. Letters of marque ( issued by seapowers like France, England, Portugal and Spain are making it extremely difficult for ordinary merchant ships to reach the homeports with their goods. The only resort seems to be a new sea route along the African coast eastwards to India.
July 8th 1497:
Starting from the port of Restelo in Lissabon four ships under the command of their commander Vasco da Gama on his flagship "S. Gabriel" set sail for their long voyage.
November 4th 1497:
The fleet reaches the bay of St. Helena at the Westafrican coast.
April 7th 1498:
After passing the Cape of Good Hope Vasco da Gama reaches Mombasa.
20th 1498:
Vasco da Gama lands in Calucut at the Indian Malabar coast.
The sea route to India was found and Vasco Da Gama was forever storied in history.
Ferdinand Magellan
1480-1521
The circumnavigation of the globe!
At the beginning of the 15th century it was getting harder and harder to meet the demand for exotic spices. On Vasco Da Gamas eastward route to India, ships had to sail for very long and pirates and buccaneers were attacking lots of ships and because of that and the harsh storms at the Cap of Good Hope lots of ships were lost at sea. Because of that King Charles I. of Spain provided five ships to find a western sea route to India.
August 10th 1519:
The flagship Trinidad leaves port under the command of Ferdinand Magellan.
November 20th 1519:
The five ships cross the equator.
Dezember 13th 1519:
The Trinidad and her escort ships anchor in the South American bay of Rio De Janeiro.
November 28th 1520:
In spite of several mutinies the ships reach the Pacific Ocean. The Pacific Ocean got his name because the seas were calm when Magellan first reached it after a ferocious storm battered the ship for at least 36 hours earlier. The passage discovered by Magellan is today called the strait of Magellan. From that day on Europe could be provided with spices from Asia using a western sea route.
April 27th 1521:
Ferdinand Magellan dies of battle injuries he received on the Philippines.
September 6th 1522:
The Victoria under her Captain Juan Sebasti¨¢n Elcano is the only ship of the convoy to safely make it back home. He used Vasco da Gamas route around the Cape of Good Hope to return to Spain.
The circumnavigation of the globe was done! Even though it wasn¡ät Magellans intent to circumnavigate the globe when he started his voyage, his expedition was the first to make it. Because of this Magellan is perceived as one og the greates seaman of all time! |
