Life Professions

Life professions can be divided into four categories: Collection, Manufacturing, Culture, and Marketplace. Every category except Culture can be learned in all five major cities (Luoyang, Suzhou, Yanjing, Jinling, and Chengdu), and all birth towns (Jiming Posthouse, Qiandeng Town, and Yanyu Villa). Culture professions can only be learned in the five major cities. You may only pick one profession out of each category, except for collection. The first profession learned costs 50 wen Coins, each new profession costs more (up to 70 wen Coins)

How to learn a Profession

  • Click "M" to open the map, and select the Life Shifu tab to see all the Life Shifus on the map.
  • For example, if you want to become a farmer, find the Farmer Shifu on the map and speak to them.
  • Click "I" to check your current professions.
  • Each Life Profession has corresponding Life Skills.

How to learn a Profession

About search: You can search the map for available materials corresponding to your Collecting Professions.

About collect: A passive skill that allows you to right-click a material to collect it.

Click "M" and select the Collection Material tab, to see all profession materials on the Map.

 

Collecting Life Skills

Hunter

Hunters acquire hides, meats, and bonus items used to make equipment and food.

The items you get from skinning correspond to your Hunter level. For example, you can only get certain items from skinning if you are at higher levels.

Tip: Press "M", then select "Search for NPC" to find a specific beast.

Miner

Miners collect different types of ores, and produce extra items such as gems.

You can check the location of mines through the interface.

Tip: After you find an ore node, you will be able to see the placement of the node on your map.

Only miners can select the ore option on the map, and smelt ores.

Woodcutter

Woodcutters provide lumber.

Tip: After you find a wood node, you will be able to see the placement of the node on your map. Only woodcutters can select the wood option on the map.

Farmer

Farmers collect important materials for the Chef and Tailor professions.

Process Crops

In the crops process interface, Farmers can process various food materials without using Vigor or Silver.

Planting Crops

- You can purchase crops seeds and Silkwork eggs from Farmer Shifus.

Tip: Some seeds cannot be purchased from Farmers Shifu, they can only be gotten from Faction Challenge or the Forbidden Instance.

Using seeds: When you are in a Farmland area, you can right-click the seed to plant. It will take 3 minutes to mature, during that period crops may be affected by weeds and insects. You need to use the corresponding medicine on the crops, or they will die. You can purchase pesticide and weeding medicine from Farmers.

Using Silkworm Eggs: When close to a Silkworm Stand, right-click a Silkworm Egg to plant. The rearing period is 3 minutes, during that time you need to pay attention to the amount of Mulberry leaves that have been eaten.

You can purchase Silkworm Medicine and Mulberry Leaves from Farmers.

Fisherman

Fishermen obtain fish and shrimp, and have a chance to catch rare fish. Fishing also provides extra gameplay: click on the left and right mouse button to reel a fish in.

 
 

Manufacturing Life Skills

Tailor

Tailors make armor. Their Embroidery skill can increase the certain armor attributes.

How to become a Tailor

Click "M" to open the map, and locate the Tailor Shifu. Talk to them and follow the task instructions to become an Tailor.

Tip: You can only select one of the six Manufacturing Professions.

Tailor Skills

Tailor, Embroider, Combining, and Disassembling

Embroider: Enhancing Armor

Tip: The second and fourth Armor Enhancements for Hats, Overcoats, Pants, and Shoes must be done by a Tailor. However, there is a certain chance to Enhance Bracers and Greaves with Tailor skills.

 

Blacksmith

Blacksmiths forge weapons. Their quench skill increases weapon attributes.

How to become a Blacksmith

Click "M" to open the map, and locate the Blacksmith Shifu. Talk to them and follow the task instructions to become a Blacksmith.

Tip: You can only select one of the six Manufacturing Professions.

Forge, Quenching, Combining, and Disassembling.

Quench: Weapon Enhancement

By enhancing a weapon through Quenching you will randomly receive an attribute attached to your weapon: Weapon Damage, Defense Breaking, or Skill.

Combining

Combine materials required by a blacksmith for blessing.

Chef

Chefs cook a variety of delicious foods that recovers Nutrition. They can also Sharpen weapons to improve damage.

How to become a Chef

Click "M" to open the map, and locate a Chef Shifu. Talk to the Chef and follow the the task instructions to become a Chef.

Cook: Make Food to Recover Nutrition and Add Buffs

Recipes, required materials, and effects

There are many different Chef recipes which can be found throughout the world. Some may be bought from Chefs, and others acquired in instance drops.

Sharpening

A weapon enhancement, that adds attributes to a weapon. For example, Weapon Damage, Defense Breaking, and Skill. The enhancement needs to be done between a Chef and a Blacksmith depending on the weapon.

 

Craftsman

Craftsmen make accessories. Their Inlaying skill enhances accessory attributes.

How to become a Craftsman

Click "M" to open the map, and locate the Craftsman Shifu. Talk to them and follow the task instructions to become an Craftsman.

Tip: You can only select one of the six Manufacturing Professions.

Craftsman Skills

Craftsmanship, Decorating, Combining and Disassembling.

Inlaying

Enhances Accessories.

Combining

Combine Materials Required for Accessory Enhancement. You can acquire the materials by disassembling available accessories.

Disassembling

You can acquire the materials by disassembling available accessories.

 

Poison Maker

Poison Makers concoct different poisons to increase weapon damage, or debuff targets.

How to become a Poison Maker

Click "M" to open the map, and locate the Poison Maker Shifu. Talk to them and follow the task instructions to become an Craftsman.

Tip: You can only select one of the six Manufacturing Professions.

Poison Maker Skills

Researching Poison, Seeking, Envenoming, Collecting, Combining.

Poison Types

Poison, Daubing Poison, Strengthening Poison.

Poison Distribution:

Click "M" to open the map, and select Poison under the Material tab to check the distribution on the map.

Tip: Only Poison Masters can select Poison.

Envenoming

Use required materials to enhance armor. (All armor's first and third enhancement must be done by a Poison Master).

Collecting

A passive skill used to collect Poison Herbs.

Combining

Used to create enhancing materials for Envenoming.

 

Herbalist

Herbalists have proficient on medical knowledge and can make different potions and pills.

How to become an Herbalist

Click "M" to open the map, and locate the Herbalist Shifu. Talk to them and follow the task instructions to become an Herbalist.

Tip: You can only select one of the six Manufacturing Professions.

Herbalist Skills

Medicine, Seeking, Dipping, Collecting, and Combining.

Medicine Types

HP medicine, Energy Medicine, Strengthening Medicine, and Experience Medicine.

Click "M" to open the map, and select Herb under the Material tab to check the distribution on the map.

Tip: Only Herbalists can select Herb

Dipping

Use required materials to enhance accessories. (All accessories' first and third enhancement must be done by an herbalist).

Collecting

A passive skill used to collect herbs.

Combining

Used to create materials required for Enhancement, (Medicine Cloth, Dressing, Homeostatic Gauze, Detoxifying Gauze).

 

Cultural Life Skills

Musician

Musicians provide great extra buffs for team battles in instances and other PVP events. However, while playing music you will not be able to move. The buffs only cover a certain distance so your team will have to stay within the buff zone to gain the benefit.

How to Become a Musician

Click "M" to open the map, and locate the Musician in the Life Shifu tab. Talk to them and follow the task instructions to become a Musician.

Tip: You can only select one of the four cultural professions.

Musician Effects

A good musician is an important support in instances and group battles, because of their group buffs.

  • Musicians can attach buffs to group of players.
  • Players can recieve three buffs and three debuffs from ally and enemy musicians.

Tip: Different music scores have different buffs, based on the level of a Musician.

How to get Music Scores

Basic music scores can be purchased from Musician's in each city. Intermediate and Advanced music scores are drops from the Forbidden Instance and/or Faction Challenge.

Tip: Some Music Scores, require higher Musician levels. Each Music Score will have different effects based on Musician Levels. Once you reach Level 7, an additional effect will be added to existing buffs.

How to play Music Scores

Music Scores include Practice mode and Battle mode (A Qin is needed when playing music, one can be bought from a Musician or the General Store)

Practice mode:

Select "Musician" under your Life Skill Interface. Choose a Music Score and click Play.

The picture above is Playing interface, there will be continuous musical notes moving along the four strings during game. Players should press the corresponding button when those musical notes coincide with letters I, J, D and C.

The little green circles at the bottom of the interface are the number of mistakes allowed. If you exceed the allowed amount, you will fail the mini-game. If you fail, you will not get any proficiency or score, and your instrument will lose durability.

Battle mode:

Drag the Music Score to the shortcut bar if you want to play music while in battle. Right click the Score to start playing music. The interface for Battle Mode will be displayed in the bottom right corner of the game. The playing method is the same as practice mode. You can see buff received from playing music in top right corner of screen. The buff will disappear once the Music Score finishes, or you fail the mini-game.

Musician Development

Different Music Scores have different amounts of Proficiency and different Ranking Scores. The higher the Proficiency, the higher the Ranking Score.

 

Calligrapher

Calligraphers annotate Internal Skill Scripts and reduce the amount of Cultivation Points needed for upgrades.

How to become a Calligrapher

Click "M" to open the map, and locate the Calligrapher in the Life Shifu tab. Talk to them and follow the task instructions to become a Calligrapher.

Tip: You can only select one of the four cultural professions.

Calligrapher Skills

Calligrapher Skills include writing and annotating.

Writing

By copying Calligraphy, you can produce Proficiency Notes for different Life Professions to read and gain Proficiency directly.

Appendix: Some Calligraphy Manuals can be purchased from Calligrapher Shifus, others will come from drops in the Forbidden Instance. All materials needed for Calligrapher can be purchased from Calligrapher Shifus.

How to write: Click "Start", the system will automatically start writing Calligraphy. There will be a green bar with a white circle in the middle at the bottom of the screen. When Calligraphy starts the white circle will move left and right. It is the player's job to keep the white circle within the green area using the arrows buttons on the screen.

Annotation: Calligraphy

Annotate a Schools Internal Skill Manual

A Calligrapher's Annotation skill can greatly decrease the required cultivation for Internal Skills.

Tip:

  • An annotated Skill Manual can reduce the required cultivation.
  • A Skill Manual can only be annotated three times (not by the same Calligrapher).
  • The number of Annotations allowed can be increased by a Calligrapher Shifu.
  • Annotation only consumes vigor.

How to increase the number of Annotations allowed:

The number of Annotations allowed can be increased by a Painter, or Calligrapher Shifu.

Appraisal Requirements:

You must have two of the same Annotation book (not bound to a player). Using "Annotation Appraisal" can increase a random number of Annotations allowed (0-3).

 

Painter

Painters annotate Skill Scripts and reduce the amount of Cultivation Points needed for upgrades.

How to become a Painter

Click "M" to open the map, and locate the Painter in the Life Shifu tab. Talk to them and follow the task instructions to become a Painter.

Painter Skills

Painting and Annotating

Painting

By making Paintings, you can produce Proficiency Notes for different Life Professions to read and gain Proficiency directly.

Appendix: Some Painting Manuals can be purchased from Painters, others will come from drops in the Forbidden Instance. All materials needed for Painting can be purchased from Painting Shifus.

How to paint: Click "Start", the system will show you a completed image first. Then the image will be scrambled into a jigsaw puzzle that you must solve to complete the painting.

Annotation: Painting

Annotate a School's Attacking Skill Manual

A Painter's Annotation skill can greatly decrease the required cultivation for Attacking Skills.

Tip:

  • An annotated Skill Manual can reduce the required cultivation.
  • A Skill Manual can only be annotated three times (not by the same Painter).
  • The number of Annotations allowed can be increased by a Painter Shifu.
  • Annotation only consumes Vigor.

How to increase the number of Annotations allowed:

The number of Annotations allowed can be increased by a Painter, or Calligrapher Shifu.

Appraisal Requirements:

You must have two of the same Annotation book (not bound to a player). Using "Annotation Appraisal" can increase a random number of Annotations allowed (0-3)

 

Weiqi Player

Weiqi Players can learn new ways of playing to increase array effects and improve team capabilities. Weiqi Players are similar to Musicians, they both provide great assistance in large scale battles.

How to become a Weiqi Player

Click "M" to open the map, and locate the Painter in the Life Shifu tab. Talk to them and follow the task instructions to become a Painter.

Tip: You can only select one of the four cultural professions.

Weiqi Player Skills

Weiqi Manual, Strategy and Weiqi Game

Weiqi Manual: All Weiqi Manuals players have learned will be shown here, as well as the corresponding NPC required for a Weiqi game.

Strategy: The effect of Weiqi Manuals.

Tip: Weiqi Skills and Array Skills are connected. Only the Array caster can trigger the buffs of Weiqi skills. So it would be wise to have to have a Weiqi player as your team leader.

Weiqi Game: You can find a specific NPC corresponding to the Weiqi Manual. Playing Weiqi with this specific NPC can increase your proficiency

Obtaining and using Weiqi Manuals

Some Weiqi manuals can be purchased directly.

Other Weiqi Manuals are Instance drops.

Use the Weiqi Manual to gain answers for Weiqi puzzles.

 

Marketplace Life Skill

Beggar

You can learn the Beggar Life Skill from a Beggar Shifu. They will give you a broken crock and a Skill Manual called "Greasiness" when you join. Beggar Skills include Pleading and Begging. Pleading is a traditional Beggar's Skill. Begging however, is used to beg money from NPCs. After Begging successfully, you will gain an item called Charity. Right-click Charity to receive some money, the amount of money depends on your Begging Skill level.

"Greasiness" can force other players to stop for five seconds so you can beg. You will sell an Auspicious Bag to the target. They may choose to buy the Auspicious Bag for a chance to receive good items or nothing.

When you level-up a Beggar Life Skill to 8, 15, or 25, you may purchase a higher level Begging Skill from the Beggar Shifu. Remember, you must become a Beggar to join the Beggar's Sect.

How to become a Beggar

Click "M" to open the map, and locate the Beggar Shifu in the Life Shifu tab. Talk to them and follow the task instructions to become a Beggar.

Tip: You can only select one of the two marketplace professions.

Function of a Beggar

Beggar skills can be divided into: Pleading and Begging.

Pleading: Force a player to stop and possibly purchase an Auspicious Bag. The quality of the bag depends on the level of your Pleading. "Greasiness" is a Pleading Skill.

You must place the Pleading Skill in your shortcut bar to cast.

How to use Pleading: Click a target player, and right-click the Pleading Skill to beg.

Begging: Beg NPCs for money.

How to use Begging: As with Pleading, you must place the skill on your shortcut bar to cast. Select a target NPC and right-click the Begging Skill to beg.

Divinator

Divinators can add a buff to increase the speed of Experiece Conversion.

In game, you need a large amount of Cultivation to cultivate your skills. Divinators can offer the highest experience conversion in game, up to 400%.

Divinators can gain Proficiency by Divinating. When Proficiency reaches a certain amount, you can receive a task to gain new identities. With higher levels of Divinator identity, there are higher Experience Conversion speed and better results from Divinating.

Function of a Divinator

Divinators increase Experience Conversion for other players.

How to become a Divinator

Click "M" to open the map, and locate the Divinator Shifu in the Life Shifu tab. Talk to them and follow the task instructions to become a Divinator.

Tip: You can only select one of the two marketplace professions.

Divinator Skills

There are 3 skills: Divination Stick, Divinate, and Travelling Divination.
Divination Stick can be divided into Future, Fortune, and Marriage

Future: Influences the Experience Conversion Speed
Fortune: Can locate players whom you have a Blood Feud with
Marriage: Not Available
Divinate: Set up your Divination Stall.
Travelling Divination: Choose a target player, right-click "Travelling Divination" to Divinate for them.

How to ask a Divinator for Divination

Two Methods:
1. As a Divinator to divinate for you.
2. Click a Divinator stall

You can choose to pay divination with Tael or Coins. The fees increase depending on the level of the Divinator. Coins have a spending limit, but Tael does not. To get your divination, click "Future" after choosing a payment method.

Tip 1: You must pay 100 Liang of Tael to the Divinator to start the divination. Then, you must pay 184 Liang of Tael to the system, to get your Divination Results.

This is called and Interpretation fee.

Tip 2: After you receive your Divination Results, you can either accept, reject, or re-divinate your results. Accepting and rejecting costs no additional money, however if you choose to re-divinate you will be charged half of the Interpretation fee.
